Comparing Aerial LiDAR Scans with Ground-Based Source-Level Measurements to Inform Robust Oil and Gas Methane Inventories

Reconciliation of aerial and ground-based methane measurements can aid the development of robust oil and gas inventories and emission reduction strategies. The MIC field testing, operated by Tourmaline, ran two coordinated measurement campaigns at an operational facility in September 2025 and February 2026. These included Gas Mapping LiDAR (GML) flyovers and concurrent ground-level measurements.

The alignment of both measurement approaches demonstrated the strong performance of Bridger aerial technology under various conditions, supporting optimal integration of aerial and ground methods for effective inventory development.
